The UK AR rankings have been established to help develop the sport within the UK. The goal of this is to:
- Promote competition and excellence within the sport
- Give competitors an idea of where they rank in the country
- Help in gaining sponsorship
- Assist with team building
Based on the end of the year positions the Number 1 ranked Male and Female will be honoured at the UK AR Awards. The scores in certain races will also be used for the UK AR Championship.
How it works
- You can gain points at any UK Adventure Race (list of eligible races in 2012 below).
- The ranking will take your best 10 results from races in a rolling 2 calendar.
- Points are gained for a top 10 ranking in any category (i.e 1st mixed pair in an Open 5 will get 100 points each, as would 1st male solo).
- Points are gained as per the scores below.
- Categories based on the event and veteran’s points will not be applied.
- The overall winner will always get the maximum score for the event.
- Currently international races will not be considered.
- In a category where less than 10 entries then (this does not apply to the team category of Championship races):
- If a similar category is also less than 10 then they are amalgamated (i.e Female solo and Female Pair)
- If not then either:
- ½ points awarded.
- Points starting in reverse with last getting 10th place.
- Points for overall standing.
- Apply whichever of the above options gives the higher score.
If a racer plans a course for an event, then they will be credited with 50% of the maximum score. To count as a racer then:
- Must not be the “commercial owner” of the event.
- Have scored points in another event in the rankings.
It is the intention of the scoring committee to be as fair as possible. Their decision is final.
